About Amista Vineyards
At Amista, we believe wine is about connection—between people, the land, and the joy of shared moments. Nestled in the heart of Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, we are a boutique winery devoted to crafting sparkling and Rhône varietal wines from organically farmed estate vineyards.
Our story began with friendship, and our mission goes beyond making exceptional wines—it’s about inspiring meaningful experiences and lasting memories among friends.

Discover The Story of Amista Vineyards
We didn’t set out to start a winery. When Mike and I met back in 1982, we just knew we loved wine—and we were curious about what it might be like to live in wine country someday. What started as a few backyard vines and weekend getaways slowly turned into something more. In 2004, we took a leap and founded Amista Vineyards here in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley.
From the beginning, it was all about friendship. Our friends were there for our first vintage, our first harvest, and every big (and little) milestone along the way.
Mike—my late husband and co-founder—was the heart of it all. He had an incredible passion for discovery and a belief that wine should be joyful, generous, and shared. That spirit still shapes everything we do.
Today, Amista is a woman-led winery crafting estate-grown sparkling and Rhône varietal wines from organically farmed vineyards. Over the years, we’ve learned that wine is about so much more than what’s in the glass. It’s about connection, celebration, and community. We invite you be part of our story and experience the joy of wine country living.
“It was a dream we didn't know we had and didn't know we shared.”

Sustainability at Amista is more than a practice—it’s a way of life. We’ve been farming organically for nearly a decade and were proud to achieve CCOF Organic Certification in 2024. Every grape in our estate-grown wines is nurtured without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, allowing the purity of the fruit—and the vitality of the land—to shine through.
Our care for the land goes far beyond how we farm. We’re actively working to help restore Dry Creek as a thriving habitat for Coho salmon and Steelhead trout, and we’re deeply committed to preserving the natural beauty of Dry Creek Valley for generations to come.
All our irrigation and our tasting room are powered by solar energy, reducing our footprint and keeping us grounded in sustainable practices every step of the way.
For us, sustainability means respecting the land, supporting our team, and crafting wines that reflect the place we’re proud to call home.
Discover Our Winemaking Philosophy
Our winemaking style is guided by a simple question: “Would we love to drink this wine with friends?” That’s why we focus on fresh, fruit-forward, food-friendly wines that invite connection—wines that are elegant without being fussy and crafted to bring joy to everyday moments.
We make our sparkling wines using the Traditional Method, with secondary fermentation in the bottle to create fine bubbles and vibrant texture. Our lower-dosage approach keeps the wines crisp, dry, and food-friendly—designed to shine on the table and in the moment, while still offering elegance and nuance.
Our still wines are just as intentional—fermented with native yeasts, aged with a light hand, and made with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for the fruit.
Whether it’s our vibrant Sparkling Syrah or Tres, our signature Rhône-style blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, we want the character of each varietal—and the distinct personality of our Dry Creek Valley vineyards—to shine through, with the goal of creating wines that are expressive, approachable, and meant to be shared.
